About Us
The Canadian Thoracic Society (CTS) has established a new central collaborative structure, the Canadian Respiratory Guidelines Committee (CRGC), which is comprised of members from the CTS. The CRGC works with each of the CTS Guideline Committees to produce and update; disseminate; implement; and evaluate Canadian respiratory guidelines.
Vision
Optimal respiratory care for all people living in Canada
Mission
The Canadian Respiratory Guidelines Committee (CRGC) focuses on collaborative initiatives to more efficiently produce and update respiratory clinical practice guidelines, ensuring that these efforts quickly translate into significant improvements in respiratory care, with the ultimate goal of optimizing management of respiratory disorders in Canada.
In order to accomplish our mission, the CRGC has launched an ambitious program to:
- Produce high-quality respiratory guidelines in a timely manner and improve their implementation into care.
- Update respiratory guidelines annually while reducing the burden of the guideline development process through a well articulated process.
- Produce a repertoire of Canadian and international respiratory guidelines and key-implementation initiatives.
- Publish a compendium of respiratory guidelines and practice tools.
- Develop new guidelines (in respiratory diseases where guidelines do not currently exist).
- Improve the quality, validity and implementation of respiratory guidelines using recognized methodological tools.
- Establish effective dissemination and implementation strategies.
- Evaluate implementation initiatives.
- Engage target audiences (multidisciplinary approach).
- Articulate with the Canadian National Lung Health Framework.
